POOR Poetry

Poor poetry, soaring smile of hungry kid

Dad’s gone

Mom’s scared.

Say Cheese! Kid …

He’s the new poster child for poverty

Bright high gloss kid reproduced a thousand times

For subway walls

Church bookstores

Magazines

It’s a necessary part of doing business

Making something happen

Helping us do the posturing and pretending

That flexes our guilt muscles

And opens our purse

Never the less, in this mean time

God does whatever it takes

To love his kids

Every one of them
