Late lunch with Daniel

Thrones were set up and the Ancient One took his throne.

Miles was hungry. He finished his equations worksheet while I fixed him lunch, a salami and cheese sandwich, slices from half a honeycrisp apple, cider, and cheese puffs. He wanted some company while he ate, so we sat together at the table.

“I would like to have lunch as an important person,” he said. “Who is most important the governor or the mayor?”

The governor is more important, but he has to travel a lot more than the mayor.

“That’s OK, I’ll make my first travel stop the airport. And Grandpa, you can be my assistant.”

The court was convened, and the books were opened.

I began to tell him about some of what happened this morning while he was out of the office.

A group of Texans came in asking for cats, I said.

“We don’t have any cats in the back office,” he said.

I know. And what if they come in tomorrow asking for mountain lions.

“That would be illegal, Grandpa.”

I know!

“Oh wait, I haven’t made that law yet! We have to make that law right now.”

By this time he had finished half his sandwich, a few cheese puffs and most of his apple slices. They were honeycrisp, after all.

Jasper came over and put his head on Miles’s shoulder.

“You can be my gerbil, Jasper. We don’t have any cats, but would you be a gerbil? In case someone wants a gerbil?”

Jasper eyed the apple slices. He looked into Miles’ eyes and nodded his head.

“Yea! We have a gerbil now. Would you like an apple slice?”

Can I have a cheese puff, Mr. Governor?

“Sure! You can have two!”

The visions of the night continued.

In the meantime Daniel has a vision of four beasts and ten horns plus one. Tomorrow we can read his explanation of the vision, but today we just get the imagery. And we get the entry of the King of Kings, called this time simply the son of man.

I saw one like a son of man coming on the clouds of heaven. When he reached the Ancient One and was presented before him, he received dominion, glory and kingship, and all serve him. His dominion is everlasting and shall not be taken away.

Today Miles and Jasper are spending the night with us. We will probably have more visions. We want to make Daniel proud.
